Ukraine Update from Medical Team: March 31, 2022

Once again, I can report that the team is doing very well. They occasionally hear an air-raid siren , but there is neither fighting nor bomb explosions anywhere close to their location. The team rounded on some patients at one of the hospitals today and spent time with the physicians who practice there. The medical staff was very excited to show our team around their hospital as well as show them how they are building an underground ICU and surgical suites in the basement. Our team met and spent time with the Chief Medical Officer (COMO) of the hospital who has worked at that same facility for 49 years. The team was gifted with a book about the hospital, a box of chocolates and a small Ukrainian flag which I believe Doc Sherry said was off the CMO’s desk. The CMO took his nametag off his lab coat and handed it to Dr. O’Donnell because he “didn’t want her to forget his name.” For those of you who know Dr. Sherry well, you know that name tag will be a treasured decoration somewhere in her office forevermore. The team moved on to a separate location where they treated refugees. According to Dr. Sherry, much ministry occurred and much time was “spent listening to heart stories.” The hearts of the people are breaking. She also reported that there were dozens of prayers for salvation. Tomorrow the team will treat and minister to more refugees as well as spending ministry and academic training/educational time with the doctors who had requested it. Prayer requests: Ability to be able to effectively communicate while teaching tomorrow; that those who made decisions for Christ will follow-up and be discipled; that they will catch the vision of whole person care especially in lieu of the many heart issues; continued inroads and information for future teams.
