Medical Team Travels to Ukraine: March 28, 2022

Our 8-member medical team to Ukraine departed Chicago at approximately 1130 hours central time this morning. Since team members were flying from several locations, they rendezvoused and departed together from O'Hare Airport. Each team member had one personal bag and, collectively, they checked over 400 pounds of medical supplies intended for the people of Ukraine. The flight will take them first to Istanbul before landing at their destination in Budapest at about 0215 hours Tuesday morning, eastern time, or 0815 hours Ukrainian time and they will hit the ground running. The team will be transported via arrangements made through the One Collective Ministry base in Ukraine. The first stop will be a military hospital to determine the need of support by members of our team. The next stop will be Lviv where Samaritan's Purse has based a field hospital. Collaboration with Samaritan's Purse will provide valuable information as their medical volunteers will have a very accurate pulse on where there is need of medical support. The team will then drive to *Rivne (pronounced Riv-knee) which will likely be their "home base." They will set-up lodging or camping in Rivne and meet the local churches who will be preparing food and helping to make our team as comfortable as possible. If the situation on the ground allows, the team may then have the opportunity to make a few trips into Kyiv to assist in transporting injured back to Rivne; however, that will only occur if it is deemed safe and only when accompanied by governmental/military officials. Doc Sherry sends her love and thanks you for your prayers. She asks for prayers specifically for the health and safety of the team, for team unity and flexibility as they may need to change plans frequently based on what is happening militarily, that the team be a bright light in a dark situation and for many opportunities to minister.
